Stone

Stone is one of the base resources in Valheim. Stone is gathered from the ground, mining, and some monsters. It’s used in tons of structures and several items.

During the early-game, you won’t need to gather much stone and you will have a constant supply coming from Greydwarfs.

Everything changes once you start terraforming or constructing a stone base. A fairly simple stone wall will take several chests full of stone, so if you have castle-building ambitions, start saving up early. Terraforming is even more intensive, raising even a modest area can take incredible amounts of stone. (unless you use a special terraforming technique)

Late-game players, that can survive the Plains, have access to the best stone mining technique in the game. You can undermine the massive pillars in the plains and the entire pillar will explode. For more information, see our article on Mining Physics in Valheim.
